Fuzed Weapon and BLU-108 Submunition
Our Sensor Fuzed Weapon (SFW) wins in more ways than one. Superior
lethality makes it the standoff weapon of choice for anti-armor,
anti-air defense and other air combat missions. The SFW, a 1,000-pound
class weapon, is the first smart air-to-surface munition to enter
into production for the U.S. Air Force.
Equipped with Textron Systems' own BLU-108 submunition and smart
Skeet warheads, SFW can detect and defeat many fixed and moving
land combat targets within a 30-acre coverage area. And each Skeet
features built-in redundant self-destruct logic, leaving battlefields
clean of unexploded warheads that endanger the lives of innocent
civilians.
Also available
as an option is Leigh Aerosystems' LongShot™ wing kit,
for long-range standoff out to 40 miles.
For
high altitude release and active fin control, the USAF
standard inventory Wind Corrected Munition Dispenser (WCMD)
tail kit, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, is available
as an option. Incorporating the WCMD tail kit on CBU-97
redesignates SFW as CBU-105.
